At age 16, Jaime Monroy began as a stand-up comedian, Jaime used to valet cars at the Friar's Club in Beverly Hills and developed his pinpoint timing and his trademark spontaneous adlibs and getting upon stage with comedy legends like Redd Foxx, Milton Berte, Phyllis Oilier, Jackie Mason, Don Rickles, Joan Rivers, Steve Allen, George Burns, Charlie Callas, Sammy Shore. Rich Little, Slappy White, Foster Brooks. Jerry Lewis, Rip Taylor. Gary Owens, and the Bob Hope USO Tours, to name a few Jaime Monroy has opened for more legends in comedy than any othe Latino comedian.
While serving as warm-up comedian for NBC's Golden Girls, a visiting Lucille Ball gave him one his most memorable compliments, 'You're very funny, you remind me of someone I used to work with a long time ago " She meant of course, one of Jaime's idols. Jaime Monroy is the only person to have the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences commit to a bust (statue) in the likeness of Deal Arnaz, whose contributions to television have never been recognized in this way.
