Jaime Monroy created the Swing Pilot, which turned out to be the most talked about pilot of the season because of its innovative approach. 'Because my roster of projects were so diverse, from a family-driven episodic, sitcom, to a music-teen idol showcase, I wanted Industry Players to come to one taping and get a sampling of six different types of programs all in one taping. The problem with showcasing only one pilot at a time is that buyers might leave uninterested because it wasn't the type of programming their department buys. Hence, I created the Swing Pilot: a new format that showcases multiple shows in a single pilot presentation."

"I knew I could get some key people from the industry: agents, managers and network executives to come out and see the Swing Pilot" concept. I set out to do ten-minute teases of five or six different shows, using five or six different casts, and weave them together with celebrity co-hosts introducing each show with a two-line pitch. This seamless process was completed in 60 minutes at Paramount Studios and was a tremendous success. With our limited budget, we saved the expenses of putting on five different "pilot presentations" by weaving them together in one package. The Swing Pilot concept, when adopted by networks. will save the networks millions of dollars of wasted pilot expenses of shows they chose that never get picked up." States Monroy.
